It’s finally warm enough for me to wear this awesome leather jacket I got from Sammy Davis Vintage‘s showroom in Spanish Harlem a few months ago. I can’t find a specific example but this jacket reminds me of something Francoise Hardy (my fashion idol if I had to choose one) would wear.

So, don’t miss this event!

Sunday, April 18, 2010 – Vintage for Haiti Benefit Sale
144 West 86th St, Apt 2B (private residence generously donated for the event)
2pm – 7pm

Sammy Davis Vintage is organizing a spring/summer sale to help She’s the First raise $200 to fund one year of education for a high school or vocational student through the Haiti Outreach Program.

*********************************************************

She’s the First benefit sale will also honor Sammy’s 24th birthday with complimentary cupcakes & wine. Plus, TBD door prizes for the first, 10th, and 25th attendee!

This is the trifecta of sales: Birthday, Benefit, and Beautiful things!

*********************************************************

**More on She’s the First**

She’s the First works to give girls in the developing world an education, so they can have the opportunities to become “the first” and realize whatever dream they have, regardless of whether or not they’ve seen in done before in their family, community, or nation. Girls who are educated grow into women who reinvest into their families, improve the health of their children and communities, and ultimately support the labor force, helping to heal the global economy.

Through grassroots, community-driven initiatives, including the mobilization of college residence halls and clubs, fundraisers from shopping and the arts & entertainment world, and an active social media presence on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook, shesthefirst.org turns your actions, no matter how small, into a big impact on a girls’ life.

**More on Sammy Davis Vintage**

Sammy Davis Vintage works to make vintage fashions more accessible to the contemporary woman through the platform of style, substance and sustainability. Sammy hopes that by bringing sustainable style into the closets of New York women, that she is also encouraging women to shop consciously and to view vintage as a way to incorporate eco-friendly fashions into their wardrobes.

Her sale on April 18th will fuel a higher power of conscious shopping: By helping to fund the education of a teen girl with a bright, deserving future.
